Who We Are

Lani Evans

Lani has spent the last few years working, walking and climbing cliffs around New Zealand. She's a passionate tramper and has a foolish enthusiasm for walking long distances in short times. She is also a freelance writer with an eclectic range of past publications, from magazines like Wilderness, the Climber and Organic NZ, to comic books, textbooks and films. She spent most of 2005 hanging off cliffs with cameras to create the internationally successful rock-climbing documentary "Southern Faces". Lani is about to start a Masters in Education, provided we don't get stuck on the wrong side of a river!

Helen Nortje

Helen is a Thai Masseur, a fact that makes her teammates very happy. She's also a Critical Care Nurse at the Dunedin public hospital and has attained the highest level of first aid certification that a nurse can get. She's going to be in charge of our physical well-being, dosing us up with whatever it is we need and letting us know when we are overtaken by fits of hypochondria and laziness. She's a triathlete, a runner, swimmer, cyclist, climber and tramper. She's also studied traditional yoga under Yoganand Saraswathi (Swami Jee) and is sure to get us stretching and chanting in the mornings.

Bronwen Waters

Bronwen's insatiable passion for wilderness, people and culture has seen her criss-cross the equator numerous times the last few years, taking her on various adventures including mountaineering with Indian women in the Himalaya and studying migration patterns in the South Pacific. Her love of the wilderness and it's interaction with human environments has developed into an interest in sustainable development and environmental/urban management. Bunkered down in Sydney between trips and frothing at the proverbial bit, she spends time climbing in the Blue Mountains & running her socks off.
